Venue Review: Yandina Station

THE LANDSCAPE is my favourite thing about this stunning property. Every direction you look has a magnificent view of rolling green fields and hills. There are stunning options outdoors – as well as for wet weather – for your ceremony. And the Dairy Barn provides the ideal rustic backdrop for your own personality and styling. Oh, and the food is REALLY good too.

Venue Review: QUT Room Three Sixty

FLOOR-TO-CEILING VIEWS. Breathtaking, panoramic 360 degree views of Brisbane greet your guests as they arrive for canapes at QUT’s Room Three Sixty. Guests move to their dinner tables just as the golden light of the sunset bathes the whole room. Then the night lights of the city become the backdrop for your evening.

Venue Review: Weddings at Tiffany’s

EXQUISITE GLASSHOUSE MOUNTAIN VIEWS is the standout reason couples might be drawn to Weddings at Tiffany’s in Maleny. The backdrop of the ceremony chapel is a huge floor to ceiling window looking over this incredible vista. The reception is held in a beautiful Queenslander which looks out over these views as well.

Venue Review: Blackbird Bar + Restaurant

THE VIEWS. THE VIEWS. THE VIEWS. Oh my gosh, did I mention the views from this Brisbane city venue? The Riverview Room and Heritage Room offer uninterrupted views of the Brisbane River, Story Bridge and Customs House. Divine at sunset. Magical at night when Customs House is lit up, and coloured lights appear on the Story Bridge.

Venue Review: Gabbinbar Homestead

FIVE STAR SERVICE is the main reason I adore Gabbinbar Homestead, Toowoomba. You will not experience service of this calibre very often in your life. The business owner is passionate about creating an amazing space for weddings, and the staff are impeccable. They think of your needs before you know you have them.

Venue Review: Brisbane Racing Club

CHARACTER is the biggest reason I love this Brisbane venue. You have the Eaglefarm race track right beside you, and a 150-year old building rich with history to house your reception. It’s unique, and fun, and beautiful.

Venue Review: The Joinery, West End

ORIGINALITY is the biggest reason I love this venue located in West End, Brisbane. The outside is very cool architecturally, with its white metal lattice façade. And the inside is a converted warehouse with exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors and an abundance of natural light. It’s a blank canvas with an industrial-chic feel. With good styling, it’s transformed into a wedding space unlike any venue I’ve worked at. Unique and cool, a space that your guests will want to tell people about after the wedding.

Venue Review: Victoria Park

CONVENIENCE + LOW-STRESS is the reason I love Victoria Park (an event venue within the golf complex in Herston, Brisbane). There is an abundance of onsite parking, and the option to have your ceremony, photo shoot and reception all at the one location.

Venue Review: Spicers Hidden Vale

WELL KEPT SECRET: This high end Lockyer Valley venue is still somewhat of a well-kept secret as far as SEQ wedding venues go. If you’re looking for a rustic barn with five star accommodation and food, this is your place. I don’t just love this venue, I am head over heels.

Venue Review: Hillstone St Lucia

STYLE + CLASS is the reason I love Hillstone St Lucia, a heritage listed venue overlooking the St Lucia golf course. There is an indoor/outdoor flow at this venue that is perfect for Brisbane weather. Your guests can mingle on the terrace or balcony areas overlooking the golf course when they want fresh air, or they can be inside the beautiful reception rooms.

Venue Review: An Island Hideaway

NATURE + DESERTED BEACHES. Located on South Stradbroke Island, this is the place to get married if you want to feel like you’ve gone to Gilligan’s Island and been married surrounded by nature.

Should I hire an MC for my wedding?

Last year I filmed two weddings where the MC (Master of Ceremonies) was not a friend or family member, but rather a hired professional. I was surprised by how well this worked out. It had such obvious benefits that I wanted to dedicate a blog post to the topic.

Unplugged Ceremonies

What is an Unplugged ceremony? Going unplugged means you ask your guests to refrain from using phones and cameras during your wedding ceremony, and leave that to the professionals you have hired.   Why go Unplugged? As a videographer I've been burnt so many times....
